Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the independent provider that supplies those results. Salem Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in the message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most websites, our host creates routine logs that may include an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We review aggregated information to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How We Use It
We use this limited information to operate the service, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create personal visitor profiles.
External Websites
Links lead to Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts, library, archive, and independent search resources. Their terms and privacy practices govern information entered on those services. That includes any sponsored search result supplied by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers process technical logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when required by valid legal process.
Protecting Limited Data
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes described here require. Because the service has no user accounts, it does not store a visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If you believe a minor provided information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information a website holds. Since we retain very little, we can search the contact mailbox and relevant logs for a request sent through the Contact page. Government-held public records are outside our control. Massachusetts access requests are governed by the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66 §10, and its exemptions in M.G.L. c. 4 §7(26), so requests about those records belong with the responsible custodian.
Policy Changes
We will post revisions to this policy here. Continued use after a revision means acceptance of the updated policy.
